Week 2

I was appreciative of how we discussed "how to grade a writing assignment". I was even more pleased to see the class was in agreement on a few key items. Some of those elements were in regards to proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation. It was unanimous that we all believed you should be able to spell; now that you are in your final quarter of college. We also agreed as a class to being compliant with a provided rubric. Ultimately, if you are provided a rubric, then there is no reason you can't achieve the desired grade you want; it couldn't be anymore black and white if you ask me.

In addition to discussing how to grade written assignments, we expanded on options to add to our blogs. I am hoping that there will be a plethora of creative and advanced blog sites, since I am at an art college. I feel like every time you are given the opportunity to express yourself through art you should take it. After all, you never know who you might inspire our reach out too.

  1. I like your point about expressing yourself through art -- whatever form that art might take. Before I came to the Art Institute I was in awe of the artistic qualities of a well-prepared, well-presented mean, but I really didn't understand much about the criteria of presentation. I've learned so much from attending a few culinary classes and talking to the chef instructors and culinary students. I now appreciate presentation even more!

  2. I couldn't agree with you more Steven on your first thought! We are in our final quarter(s) of college and should be able to follow a rubric! We should also be able to spell by now. I'm kind of a grammar nazi and always correct people, but everything has spell check now. Great blog!
