Week 6 which I do Believe
http://thisibelieve.org/essay/19213/
The essay link, I posted above, reminded me of me; and how I see the world. This essay inspired and reminded me of the value I have for the animals in my life, both past and present. I can become so irritated when I hear people claim that we are superior to animals, animals dont have souls (which I agree because I don't believe in souls period), and animals are here to serve us. If these specific people could stop for a second and truly examine the unconditional love a dog exhibits, they could probably learn a thing or two. I am not claiming great white sharks want to be our buddies, but animals have just as much right to be here on this planet as we do. I think they should be treated with more respect, and in return we as humans might just learn a thing or two as a result. In this specific essay, I share in my link, the man reciting his essay had a pesonality makeover because fo his dog. It resulted in him becoming engaged.

I totally believe with everything you said and what that story was about. I cannot think of better feeling than coming home from a long day, one where I was probably not the nicest person ever, and have my dog love me anyway. It is an amazing to walk through the door of your house and immediately feel love. Sometimes animals are easier to be around than any human I have ever meet!
ReplyDeleteSteven, you must read Kristen's take on the same essay in her blog. How does your perspective on animals translate into your work with meat as a chef?
